I'm from China. I lived in China for about twenty years then I live in the US for about twenty years. So, it's US and China. I really enjoy sports. I used to be a student athlete. So, I enjoy swimming, running, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis. I actually enjoy travelling a lot -- I'm a very, very avid traveller -- and reading, music, and movies.
So, I'm a professor in the information systems. We have a major in IS in our undergraduate program. So, I have a core course which is introduction to management information systems in our undergraduate program. And for students who major in IS, we also have courses like programming, database, human computer interactions and many other electives. So, as for our undergrads, we have a lot of undergraduate students who are double majored. Let's say major in IS and finance, and IS and accounting. So, I believe many of our undergraduate students have been getting jobs in financial institutions, in big like tech companies. We have undergrad students who go to IBM, Amazon, Facebook, Google, and all kinds of different places. For graduate program, we have a specialized master program, MSIST, so masters of science in information systems and technology management. So, this program is truly focused on information systems, so we have database, programming, internet computing, advanced programming and a variety of elective courses. And our students, many of them already have jobs in the government because we are in DC. Many of our students also got jobs in tech companies and many of our students go to consulting companies as well. So, that's sort of a general overview of our undergrad and grad programs.
My research area is sort of intersections of information systems, economics and marketing. So, the major research projects I've worked on is mostly in the electronic commerce area. So, to be more specific, I've worked on the impact of user-generated content and social media, product sales, and I've worked on digital marketing strategies like knowledge attribution problem. And I've also recently started a series of research in the healthcare and IT. So, I have a couple of projects looking at the impact of online healthcare communities, and I also just started a project looking at the impact of social media on pharmaceutical companies, new drug sales in that area so mostly e-commerce, social media, and user generated content.
