what is your educational background and career trajectory and how did you end up there so my career backgrounds I'd been an educator for about nine ten years I first began and Michigan state right eighty degree and education and minor in history and Spanish and then I transferred over to the university of California San Diego where I completed my masters in English each and they're on a number of levels so anything from pre school all the rain almond tree middle school and in my last year education and this administrator for high school startup charter school the majority of my time is spent teaching during bridge and elementary school something I truly believe and and have come to base my dissertation office topic in understanding how the language can be used space to sustain the culture and rank range of students of color so that education can be a place where it's at honoring and recognizing insisting ask I'm in the future within a year of graduation and I hope to be looking for professor repossessions whether it's at a research one or teaching institution might be happy also going back into the district office where I'd be working as a consultant or eighty and support for every scene equity
what are your passions and what informs that my house I think I would say that my passion currently is heavily revolving around my dissertation so taking a look at what research states is best for our students of color and in questioning the structures in education and how we might better switch our own education to me are diversifying student population so right now I'm looking at what leaders can do with and during which schools so that we're able to increase the space for students and particularly for students of color and really connecting the field of practice to research is human and huge past mine making sure that educators on the ground are able to have access to best research practices and also had the perfect sense of professional development that I feel like I never had access to when I was a teacher in question another as carbohydrate I love a good pasta recently I've been making a lot of costs are and I think lastly I would say a passion of mine and the reason why I am in interest mentor program is because I really believe and be activism of students of color on our university campuses and it's something that I really admire about the university tried and tested organizations or really hope to continue this active membership and and raise that I can support and kind of really learn from also this new generation of scholars and activists in ways that we can network and change that are surrounding communities for a more equitable teacher
