first of all, can I don't think we can classify the startup any longer. We have been a 17 years. Eso This journey started way back. It started in 2004 and it actually started from our living room in Hyderabad, India. On But it's been a fascinating journey. I mean, there the got toe. Essentially, we had one of the top 10 independent agencies for both Google and Microsoft in North America at this time, Onda. It has been purely because of three reasons. One is we've taped, true to our core purpose off helping businesses succeed online on sticking to our core values of respect, equal opportunity for all, focusing on customer delight and quality. Uh, on the third component, which I think is the most important part probably in this one is because of a lot of people, a lot of well wishers, friends, Obviously he members, advisors who really have faith, trust people, uh, it come see, be an outcome, or maybe one my stone in the entire journey. But I think it wouldn't have been possibility if he didn't have the purpose. It didn't have the core values on if you didn't really have all these fantastic people who have really helped us. Uh, true. Yeah, So that would be my thing. Incidents and experiences of quite a few. I mean, when you spend about 17 years and has so many incidences. But I think the ones that I would probably remember the most, maybe are too. One was in 2005. In the month off, I think it was It was It was April, I believe it or not, April or be 2005 when he was still in India at that point in time on our overall office bank account had $5 in 242 piece to be precise. And we had at that point in time unfortunately, uh, had to let go off the two team members who are sort of working with us. They still remain very friends because we couldn't afford them. 242 to please. You can't really afford anything anywhere. So we have decided to shut down the business on the business would have shut down by the seventh of May On. That's where I start to talk about when you, when you really believe in something and are really passionate about something magic games to happen. And suddenly we got a call from literally nowhere, uh, India for exactly when it used himself as J. Stain Field, the founder and CEO of a company called blinds dot com on, he gave us a chance, and the rest is history anyway. But if had a couple days later, we wouldn't have existed because we wouldn't have the phone because the phone was supposed to get disconnected because we were unable to pay the that the overall amount needed for the phone fee as well. So that, I think, is coincidence. I mean, my big lesson toe. Anyone who listens to this would be that when you are really passionate about something, when you really believe in something I have seen that somehow the universe conspires to make your success on. This was one example I can think think anything better than that, Uh, in the instance off, the many probably was the day when, uh, when we were chosen by UPS, the the number one logistics company in the world. This to their partner on essentially ups, uh, didn't need a pretty extensive search across the U. S. On. We were identified as their exclusive search marketing partner. So UPS Rivers as a fair amount of business. So that really took out look our entire business to a completely different plane all together, so but I think the two instances they definitely share.
That's a difficult question because I think we're no longer a start up on the elevator pitch has really changed quite a bit. So in very simplistic terms, when we started off, it was very simple, right? How can we get you found on Google? It was as simple as that. We help businesses get found on Google. That was, I think, the thing. So now we have become pretty more complex because we worked with a fairly wide range of channels. Andi, essentially, we we help first of all, using our customer technology or customer intelligence platform. We help identify the high value shoppers, our customers that then we combine all the different marketing channels, whether it is Google, Facebook, Amazon, etcetera to really go ahead and target them and then really acquire those customers most profitably for our business. So that would be, I think, the pitch it has evolved Trump just getting found toe. Really? Ah, lot more data driven approach towards Internet marketing. On acquiring instance, the customer has something Before I start up. I think they still do. Ah, lot of companies they're still really trying toe do a little bit of a as and pray approach as well, so there is not as much of a data driven approach. Still in the little marketing, though, I think the situation is a lot better now compared to in 2004, when we have started. So I think that's where they're just trying to do it manually. But I think in the new world that we are in, I think that's the manual approach. Without having any technology as a core, you don't get a bit, Yeah, yeah.
Wow. So this is like I have to think of 2004 now a cooking. We went to the 2000 for the first few weeks, honestly speaking, defend this amount of idealism and zero practically and because of that. So because we started off in terms of experimenting and ruin, done doing some actual tests because this was a completely new industry for us and we didn't know it was almost like you sort of getting into an industry that you have zero idea about. So you try to figure out. So we try to be a customer ourselves and we said that How would I do that? So once we did it, it was probably took us about a couple of months to figure it out. And then we were very interested in the mathematics behind it, the mathematics and technology behind it, which is what I'm very questioning both. And then I had five or an international patent way back in 2005. Andi. Then the rest is history, as I mentioned. So that patent got attracted by the attention of the Google folks we make and so on and so forth. So a lot of stuff happen. But I think that the first part is really the dog Eat dog food, right? If you are building something a product, you should be the first. That's a lot of the front on that you can be only if you really do it yourself. So that was essentially how we started off on over the next few months. That really gave us a lot of understanding off how things really work. Also, that was, I think, the basic Yeah, something back.
