Well, I'm delighted to be here things or thanks for asking. Um, I've been in my current accompany, McKinsey and company of Anderson. 28 years. What led me there, but my variance, BP a working for one of the big, which would be terrific business financing, running. But at almost all of the clients that I heard Dean company was doing the work that I had seemed really interested. And it Who are these people and how do you get it? And ah, the basic, uh, about that that was you had to go get an MBA MBA and managed to land a job in C. It didn't think I was a that long. Found it to be incredibly invigorating from ongoing learning standpoint. In a world that changing one. It shows a hunting right on of underground as they worked small details. Or when I was in college and my dad was a tractor. And either the people that I worked for in that in the retail store Norm, I thought that really understood accounting or finance. And it was created ongoing struggles for both of the businesses. And I thought to myself Oh, I'm not sure exactly what I want to dio. I want to do something in business. I understand. That's what goes back
but we're in a little bit atypical times right now, So I'll tell you a little bit with a more typical time, this light. Um, my main responsibility is border working teams that are serving clients to help them with their most important opportunities and problems. Uh uh. To improve performance, uh, or, you know, otherwise, um, address issues. And so I spend probably three days a week, Uh, with clients at client, uh, that leads to and and on those sites, we typically will have, you know, one or more teams of 3 to 5 people that are it is to either answer a strategic problem here for a discussion with senior management B for the actual discussions with senior management. Or it might be around some sort of prop, fine movement, opportunity friction or implementing some Reordan. So a lot of time at client and about a dozen clients that I served over time not always doing work, but, Tim, you work. We're gonna say no. Um, uh, I probably, uh I I would tell you that my average work week is 65 hours. Um, but, you know, that includes many times, you know, client dinner. I don't feel like that's That's difficult work. You've got to eat dinner anyway. Um, sometimes, uh, you know, if you counted the travel, it might be a little bit more than that, because I do bend in a typical week, you and sometimes maybe three nights away from home. Sometimes that might be two weeks with no travel, and then a week Where I'm times for five nights tends to be more being gone, is we? In these past few months, we've discovered that more things can be done from home. Um, then we might have imagined because of the technology is that we have. But, um, I think that, uh, well blow house more work from home in the future by they I'm finding about some of the work from home is that it is get the work done. It's not, uh, maybe, as in some ways, in terms of your ability to count people, leaders have engine for teething. Yeah, I'm missing that. Missing spending real time in real place
I say that one of the biggest challenges in, ah, job like mine it's work consultants and advisers would be how you get people when they've hired you to do work. You know, maybe it's clear what needs to be done, but it's difficult, I think. Learning how to mobilize people, make difficult decisions to drive difficult change in their company. Um, is that part of it? We have spent a lot of time understanding uh, what it is that really hate. But it really takes for organizations and people inch. And, um, I really try to think confidently about that Is not happy. It's a lot of wood. People have the right tools gills. You get it right, was measured and rewarded. Um, you need to have in your leaders that role modeling, administrating, really bucking the talk In addition to, you know, we're rt is why it is the organization needs. I have a good example used motive. How would you hear the CTL when you want big changed app? And you could say that I get everyone to wear a chance to work Every everyone says the last kind of crazy thing like, would you want to do that? Oh, it motivates the is one. You got people really good reason. It's important to do dissected. Being that you will motivate is Oh, I don't see the warning as I'm certainly not working. Um, they say, Well, are we gonna measure how frequently people were pants? And are we gonna reward, um, and and may be hard to find? No. I provide people with rules, or the resource is Do it really one of those four things out. Um, you won't get three quarters of a result. Feel any fresh kind of a silly story, but I find it an easy way to motivate. Does she need to do to blanket something hard?
