my name is Lauren and I am a thirty year our school site PhD student at the university of Utah and I am originally from Reston Virginia and I lived in Arizona for about ten years and just move to Utah for Arizona about two years ago so I'm that's where I am from me and I really love trying new foods I'm going to new places whenever I can and accomplishing goals so I'm in my undergrad I had just gotten involved in like any lab that I kind of like I just emailed a couple faster is asking if I could be a part of the lab and you know I didn't care what work I was doing I was just so I'm happy that they were letting me be a part of it so that was kind of my first step into the world of psychology army and so I did a lot of working in labs in my undergrad and I wasn't really in any sport so other than eating a lot of it I don't know that I had any other interesting hobbies
my name is Warren I'm I am a third year student and the school psychology I doctoral program at the university of Utah and I am actually not from Utah I am originally from Virginia and I moved to Arizona about twelve years ago and I'm and I'm going there for my undergrad and now I am hearing you talk or on graduate school so I'm I haven't been in Utah are very long again going on my third year sales saw figuring things out here but what I have discovered and thought my dog loves all of the places that we can hike and there's a ton of awesome they love to eat and so that's something that I've been really enjoying it and and and there's just a lot of opportunities here in Utah specially Theo on which is really exciting so and really when my undergrad I went to Arizona state arm for four years and studied psychological science says and and I was kind of where those people that was I think all the major but then people would say oh well you know what do you do with your degree aren't aren't it took me awhile to figure it out and I'm still figuring things out every day of but I'm I thought well okay the psychology department did you research and so I just reached out to on a couple of different professors that we're doing research and I was you know willing to there from the computer and do the most boring work I was just so excited you know to get into one of these laws so I am I helped out a couple different labs on air is honesty and I just realized that I'm you know I really like doing research and there was a call but that was being created for psychology students and so I went ahead and applied to be in that and I ended up running for treasure and got really involved because the club was about are helping psychology students get past like the barrier that we face and you know and in preparing for and the profession and I want to do that I want to halt and students get past these barriers that I've experienced in other people I know have experienced I'm in more areas than just you know psychology so I think this is something that we can help out with students all over campus is just helping them be more informed I'm in be better able to like access your education especially I'm at the university of Utah right now we have just so many different avenues and it's it's a hard area to navigate by figuring out how to get it just opened up like the whole world for me so iron in terms of the second question I'm as far as my academic background goes I and graduated from Arizona state go sun devil and got my bachelor's of science and psychological sciences and a minor in bioscience on and I walked into an internship fair like my third year and was just like you know I like to see and I came up to the booth and they were recruiting interns to work in a setting with children with autism and that was something I'd never done before on but without boots and along with a couple others I just got my information is hot gay you know they are not **** means be awesome and I ended up getting an internship at the organization and I ended up in training for a year and then I actually worked there for a year and it just made me realize that I wanted to do research and I wanted to learn more about them so I'm just kind of walking into the internship there and having some motivation I'm I'm in Utah now doing what I love and I'm I'm just really passionate about improving educational systems so both arms you know for throughout the range range so school all the way up to and college especially for individuals who have disabilities are are coming from I remote or underserved populations I think that's an area that we can all stand to learn more about across fields and super passionate about increasing access to clinical care so how are we reaching individuals who are in I'm no moral area as or that are unable to I'm paying in Chile supported trip to an area that that does provide those services so I think that's huge I'm really just airing on world qualified professionals that are in tune with Nick what best practices and I'm most importantly I know that was just a bunch of mumbo jumbo about things and I really passionate about in as far as school and my career goes on but I think that I'm promoting while being with ourselves and others in stressful situations like school I'm really taxing jobs is incredibly important and full of all ages you know what they are fast and we and what's not there thing I'm really passionate about it mostly just you know okay yourself and reaching towards your goals and just you know not letting anything get in the way and something thousand just getting past that and and there's just something really powerful about that and I wanna hold others do that if they want to yeah that was my name's Lauren and I am so excited to on thanks so much
