Thanks for having me in this conference/presentation. It's been a great pleasure of being in this academia and it's an honor to me that I'm able to share my experience and my personal viewpoint in this. Let me start by answering your question; this is regarding where I am originally from: I grew up in a small town called Thanjavur in South India. I have pretty much lived all my life, the young age near and around Thanjavur. I graduated from REC Trichy which is right now called as, National Institute of technology, NIT Trichy as well. Since then I graduated and worked with Infosys. During my time in Infosys, I've lived in quite a few places including Bangalore, Chennai, and we were one of the first to move to Chennai, as a part of Infosys and then I've also lived in Oman and Nebraska. Subsequent to my career in Nebraska or my career with Infosys, I joined the PhD program at Carnegie Mellon where I lived for five years in Pittsburgh. Since graduating from Carnegie Mellon, for the last fifteen years from about 2003 I've been here at Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana.
It will take about a couple of seconds to talk about the bachelor program. Our bachelor program is involving again, it's a bachelor program in management and there are sub-majors within this, one of the major is SCIA major, Supply Chain Information Analytics major. Which is how we have part of that offering in the school. A number of our students get job offers from companies like Accenture and Deloitte, in terms of understanding how to apply technology to business problems. Our program offers them with programmatic as well as managerial relevance, programming capabilities as well as managerial issues as to how to handle issues related to managing these projects etc as well. The student usually ends up in some entry-level positions in these places. We've also given our focus in the manufacturing and supply chain. A number of our students join places like General Motors, Ford, and others, and they go through ranks as well. One of the key things about our program is that we can at least think of three CEOs in Fortune Five hundred companies who are from our undergraduate program. The CEO of John Deere, the CEO of United technologies Corporation as well as Eli Lilly CEO, are all undergraduate from our Uni. Similarly, with regard to a graduate program, we obviously offer an MBA and we have a number of our MBA students who have gone and taken senior leadership roles in many companies. In addition to this MBA program, we also offer MS in business analytics and information management. So I can describe if there are any more questions on this.
Regarding the application to the program per se at the undergraduate level we typically offer a wide range of courses starting from business analytics and business analytics is offered by some group of the management as well, so I'm pitching it more as a Krannert school. One of the key things that we emphasize in our program is the focus on digital transformation and others. As regards the, you're asking about questions regarding misconceptions that discourage students from our programs, one of the misconceptions we often have to face with is whether we are shutting down our MBA program because of the program size etc. The answer to that question is no, we're not shutting down that program. We continue to think about investing a lot more about the program. The second aspect of this is, one of the other elements is, students typically view the business analytics or even MBA as being just offered by Krannert, but what I would like for us to think about is, the offering that we make available is from resources across the whole campus. So when students are applying to the program they shouldn't be just thinking about Krannert per se but they should be viewing it as Purdue as a whole. And as you can imagine, Purdue being a very strong engineering institution, has a wide range of capabilities that we can offer. The following may not necessarily be relevant when we talk about business but pretty much every space mission that we have sent out from the US has involved a Purdue alum. So we are very impactful in many of the things we are doing, we are at the cutting edge of a number of activities that are going on. So if students are just thinking about coming to Krannert, they shouldn't be just looking at Krannert per se but also look at Purdue, that's the one thing I would encourage our students to do.
