um, how I ended up here today is kind of like a journey. Um, I'll give you a little background. I have a two bachelor's degrees, one in accounting and the other in information systems and a master's degree in information systems. So originally I wanted to be a C p a. And so that's why I went to business school originally. And my grandpa was a businessman. And so that's basically where I got my background for business. And they are always talked about accounting being the that. I guess you could say the language of business. But little did I know there was other side that what hasn't been very talked about very much in business, which would be the technology side. So I was almost done with my accounting degree when I took a M s. I s required class, and I decided that I no longer wanted to be part of do accounting. So I changed. And then I Dual major and information technology are information systems. Um, and ill basically was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Um, because even with my accounting degree, I would still need that knowledge in the workplace. So what, um, inspired me mostly was like I mentioned earlier. They said the accounting was the language of business. Um, but really, Um, what drives business is the technology. So not only do you need to know the language, but you need to understand the technology to drive business, to make improvements to basically, um And so in short, that's kind of what I saw. And so, um and so then I went that route, and I'm very happy that I did, because it helps with my career and pretty much anything that I dio eso That's how I ended up in my career.
so the work environment has changed dramatically. As you guys, everyone has experienced around the world s o with J. C. Penney. Um prik I would like to call it pree Cove it and then post covet because there's a lot that's happened throughout this, but so pre covet my responsibility was Thio Basically a oracle is the system that we use and enhance it in any way that we can by moving around some jobs, creating new ways of processing through the oracle system and creating a feedback loop Do drive business. Um, in short. But now, with co vid, um, we're deaf. We could go into the office and I was high bred. That's one thing great about technology is you can work from home or go into the office. Um, depending on on what your schedule looks like if you have meetings. Um but also, um, one thing I fail to mention is by working with the system, I had to work with all levels of the company, so that could be the end user. What? That could be a level entry, employees all the way up to the VP, thio or um and above and explain to them how or why we need these improvements and how it's going to save money. Time etcetera, eso and then traveling. Um, traveling is probably about, I would say, quarterly once a quarter, go to the Home Office, which is in Dallas, Texas, or if we're doing a system in grade upgrade or, um, moving to new system lying to wherever the consultants would be. So travel isn't heavy, but it is. It does come up and working from home now with discovered it's been since February. So, um, it's very in that way. Um, it's flexible, um, to be able to work from wherever you are remotely.
So software I mentioned earlier, uh, we used Oracle 11 ir 12 once cloud based ones not. And so, um, those are basically and a lot in oh, Oracle Business Intelligence, which is creating dashboards, k p I is and anything business intelligence related. Um, so as faras that goes, that's pretty much I mean, there's more systems, um, that I've worked with people soft and just a lot of other, um, large oracle systems. And there's a lot of, but as far as the analytic part. So I mentioned, um, business intelligence. So with that, it's basically creating data Mark Cube, based off of algorithms that were created through our though, and those algorithms are mostly used. Thio forecast are forecast a lot of things, so that could be issues. Um, that might arise. Um, forecast, um, budgeting, forecasting, um, system job times. So there's a lot of different algorithms. Eso There's huge, um, array of different type of languages. Use I mentioned are, um, even complex Excel formulas v b A, um, and was a pipe python
