I started my career actually. Mechanical engineering. I worked for a big construction mining company, Caterpillar for a handful of years. Um, and I think that initial experience drew me towards working for a startup. I wanted to work in more of a fast paced environment on obviously bigger companies. Eso were the only marketplace that exists for the home inspection space. Um, and in terms of actually create a platform that leverages the data around the point of inspection. Um, you know, that's that's where we start to create tremendous value for our customers, right? So if you imagine going through the home buying process, you do an inspection and there might be 20 to 30 things that need to be, um, repaired before you move in. We actually have that That data around those repairs at basically machine readable fashion and we can actually automate doing those repairs through a seamless tech platform. S. O R. Vision on this is is more than just inspections. It's all about simplifying the home buying process and ultimately, the homeownership process.
Yes. I started full time in August of 2019. Um, we actually started out by building software for home inspectors. So instead of building a marketplace that consumers could go to book inspections, I actually wrote and build software that inspectors would use to write the reports with a similar idea in the sense that once I had the data, the inspector report, um, in a programmatic fashion, I could automate and create a lot more value for consumers. Um, but over the coming weeks and months, I quickly learned that well, it was pretty easy to get inspectors to use my platform and be able to acquire customers. My relationship with that customer was very weak in the sense that I was just going to introduce them after they do an inspection on. They really had no idea who are company was. We were just a software their inspectors were using. Eso We decided Thio pivots slightly and take a step earlier in the process of the home buying experience, um, and actually control the booking as well as the coordination of the inspection, and actually be the service provider for the inspection. Um, predominantly, because one you know, we actually have more control over the supply. So the inspectors if we control demand, but but to and more importantly, we have a much stronger relationship with that in customer on Grable, Thio help them in a lot of different ways than just acquiring them as a lead from a report writing software.
