to my career. If you go on my lengthen pages is not like a drug pap, uh, everybody asking that question because it's really unique. Um, so, I mean, currently, I'm a marcato, um, consultant, a director of strategy for a marcato consulting agency, which is basically marketing automation, digital marketing, helping people use a specific tool called Marcato, which is more information on which helps people, Um, what else? People like do marketing and do personal life working. So I mean, I started my career. I'm getting my PhD in transit biology.I'm a client of, uh, director of client strategy at Digital Pie, which is a marketing automation consulting firm specifically around Marcato. And my path is definitely not here. But if you look about linked in profile, I finished my PhD in cancer biology from Stanford and was a bench scientist but I knew that I didn't want to be a professor. I didn't want to be doing lab work every day but I really liked people and I really like solving puzzles, Which is why you know who is a scientist? Huge issues like puzzles, Um and Ah, And I'm actually the only person from my lab who graduated from my lab who didn't become a professor, a professor or a doctor or both of professor and a doctor. So I've definitely the oddball I first got into my first, went into a biotech company and worked as ah, like, um, like a field support support scientists. So basically helping and teaching others how to use equipment, so kind of complex stuff and explaining it to people were just why I like working with people, helping them solve their problems, you know, what it means. The night research. I hope other people do their research. And then I moved into marketing. Um, you know, marketing to people like me. Well, I mean, I don't have a marketing background, and I never market in class, but I'm scientist. And if you think about its marketers, all today have to be like scientists. So I did a couple of a couple of jobs as, ah marketer within biotech, but then transferred skills to tech company and basically use the software and use marcato and use marketing automation several times to the point where you know, hey, I could teach other people how to do it. And that's how I and I taught myself how to do it. Um, and then, you know, joined the consulting company where that's what I do all day. It's all puzzles and help people do their marketing
my at my average day on an average week is basically I have I work with many different clients solving their problems and meeting with them and just let them pick my brain. You know, they and ah, basically the guy just get to sit here and and and solve their puzzles for them. Eso On any given week, I might talk to five or seven different clients. Um, that have a particular puzzle. Like this morning. I just got off the call. Someone wanted to connect two pieces of software together on and they needed to figure out the data strategy. So, like, if you think about, I mean, what we do and from a data data perspective is that we're trying Teoh is like trying to figure out how to get water to move through a bunch of complex pipes like through, you know, joins my Where did they go and what is it? Leak. And how do you get it from one you know, one side to the other. I mean, there's all these different paths that you can take and kind of mapping that out. Um, so it's like a puzzle. So it's like, OK, we wanted to connect two things together. What are all the What are all the things you to think about? What date is gonna come through? What date is gonna pass? Who's gonna provide that data? Where you gonna get that? What do you ask the person for the data, right? We're thinking about work. We're getting information from the web. Your fear. You come to a website, you were filling out information and giving us information. What can we even for? So it's really a puzzle, but you can just kind of put together, um, and then other and other things where I helped clients is kind of plan and a plan and actually build things within their marcato system. So a lot of times, I roll up my sleeves and building and strategizing, building and strategizing. How am I gonna connect all these pipes together when they want? Like, you know, blue water to come on Mondays and green water the flow on Thursdays. And, you know, rubber Ducky used to come through, you know, every other day or so you know, it's a doll. The puzzle. I'm just kind of think about how I'm gonna build it. So I spent a lot time designing, um, letting people pick my brains and then building myselfas a consultant. You know what people? Time is an agent in an agency, and we were always work from home before, before where we are today. It's one of the reasons that's really attractive things. It's very flexible. Um, you know, So we have Ah, you know, we have very flexible schedule. We can change, you know, adjust are scheduled to whatever it is. And I mean, as long as we're there for clients and to keep them happy, you know, the work can happen anywhere, anytime. Any place. You know, we have we have some. I have some colleagues that, um, you know, moved to a different country every six weeks or something to experience it, cause it's always have the Internet, you know, Internet connection. That's all you really need.
actually working on a company in a consultant. Like I said, I see seven different clients in a week, so it's like I have to switch, you know, it's contact with him. I have to switch. This company has. All of these are the These are the people interacting with. These are the personalities. This is the challenge is that I'm trying to solve. This is their environment. This is what the house looks like. This is what I'm trying to solve. But as I see seven different houses in any different every any given week, you know, switching from one house to another, trying to build and solve their problems. So it's really disc overcome these challenges, like it really deep really organized what you're finding a way that works for you to remember where you are. It sometimes I've got into places where it's like Wait where we get, you know, you travel a lot and you get you walk out of an airport. Use it. When I traveled a lot like Wait, what country am I OK? You kind of get a bubble bait? Yeah, nearly organized and just and having a method that works for you and each method is different. That's true for, like, any job, right? You gotta find a method that really works for you.
