Absolutely. So I'm originally from Jordan, and, um, we don't speak English. There. Speak Arabic. Ah, So I started learning English in 2009 while in Jordan. Um, and the school I went to their most of the students usually go to the U. S. The study for further college education. So I chose to go to Middlebury College in Vermont, applied there early decision. Didn't realize they don't have engineering, showed up. And I was like, Oh, okay, well, I want to do engineer. So I spent the first year, two years there and then realize that there's a program they have with Darkness College in New Hampshire Has engineering switched over there, um, ended up getting to bachelors and a masters from the two schools in five years. And so I studied computer science and math and then electrical engineering. And then I got a master's and entrepreneurship. Um, yeah, so so far. So while I was studying because my masters and entrepreneurship, my my immense interest in entrepreneurship and, um, getting my own thing started from scratch. I've started to start ups, one that's up and running today, and one that's currently on pause for a bit. Um, and I, the one that's up and running is kind of managing itself on its own, and it gives me the flexibility to be able to work my job full time. Um, well, that's running on its own.
eso. From now on, I'm just gonna focus on the job that I work right now at global Lending Services as a senior manager of direct lending. Um, so this position is very unique because it's basically starting a new line of business for the company, and the company does something called indirect lending. So they give loans to consumers car loans to consumers through dealerships. So we give the loan to the dealership to give the money to the dealer shape, and the customer is the one that benefits from the loan. And what they wanted me to start for them is, ah, Lendu line of business called direct lending, which from its name, I will be working directly with the consumer. So think prequalification. I will find the consumer. Everything happens before they show up to the dealership. And we established a deal all online, and it's very good right now. Given the situation with Kobe 19 the customer doesn't really want to spend that much time at the dealership so they can take care of most of the structuring of the deal online picking the car, the price, the term and all of that. Um and then taking it to the dealership with them and getting their offer. All right? Yeah. So? So what we What I do here is I basically had to start this line of business from scratch. So the responsibility is really go from looking at creating the pitch deck to the CEO. Try to convince the CEO that this is a good investment for us. Um, toe hiring analysts to work on this line of business to creating credit policies and thinking, What is how are we gonna price these loans? What's a good interest rate? What's not a good interest rate? Um, what kind of customers are we willing to approve or not So and also looking at the marketing of it and also looking at the financials of the sign of business. Is it viable? Is it profitable? Is it not so really looking at all of that, which is awesome, because I got to work on every single bit of this line of business and and learn it all as I go weekly hours really differ. Um, when I first started, I've been here about eight months. When I first started, it was I'd say about 40 hours, but now. Once we launched the business, which we did about two months ago, it almost doubled. I would say, just because we have to get ready for launch, it's like finals. We can call it right. You don't work like an average Wednesday During the term, you really have to double up and triple up on your work and energy and efficiency. And so that got a little tough during launch. But again, very, very exciting because you're getting ready to launch in terms of working from home. That's all we do right now. That's what most people are doing. Um, I love working from home. I think it gives me the flexibility toe. Um, Teoh, do my other tours after work and save the hour, hour and 1/2 of traveling to and from the office. Um, and to and from the bathroom and to and from the cafeteria, like all of that time gets saved and you can work, you can focus on working Instead, I get a lot more productive working from home
The main challenge that I've found, which I also considered to be the most exciting aspect of my job, is that no one else has done it before our company. So it's it's really all uncharted territory. It's Whatever I discover is the discovery that will go off of so realizing. And I didn't realize that when I first started. But as soon as I realized how much trust is being put in me in my work and in the words that I say and in the decisions that I arrive and the outcomes and conclusions that step things up for me and I was like OK, this is this is really a challenge because I want have toe learn these things But also I'm learning them for everyone else at the company, for my manager, for his manager because they hired me to take care of this line of business, right. So I have to figure out all the aspects of this line of business and report on them, and so the responsibility kind of really shot up for me and and became challenging to some extent. But I find it really, really exciting because once I arrive at a solid answer that I'm comfortable and confident about. Then that's what homes have found, and that's my work, and that's really rewarding for me.
