It had a very interesting way that I got to where I am today. I never thought that when I was in high school or even college that I would be working in higher Ed. Most individuals when they asked what I do, they think I'm a faculty member and I'm actually part of the administration A T University, and I've been doing Hunter Head for over 20 years now. And prior to that, I actually worked with Children with disabilities. Andi, I thought when I started college I was gonna be a physical therapist. So I certainly look very different direction on. Part of that is just from the experiences I had, what I was in school and meeting other individuals. And, um, it ultimately, uh, I would be fall in love, really, with working college students and helping students select universities. They wanted to go Thio both of the undergraduate and graduate level
absolutely so as a vice president for enrollment in marketing and even university, Um, I have a variety of different responsibilities. So I oversee Theo entire undergraduate admissions staff. Eso Those include the counselors that ah, lot of students talk Thio. It also includes our financial aid office, um, which, which deals with not only new students coming in, but current students of the university I offer over. I also oversee our graduate enrolment area. So anyone interested in master's or doctoral programs I'm responsible for that as well. And last but certainly not least, is our marketing and PR area. So all the branding for the university marketing of our programs is all under my purview on DSO my top three priorities for this line of work. Um, well, it's a tough one, but I think the number one priority right now is is getting students to enroll at our university on Dawn Lee. The different levels, both of the undergraduate and graduate level. Another priority would be, um you make sure that the human brand is out there, that students know how to find us to know what we're about and to see it for the right fit for them and then, lastly, it's really, I think, personally for me is to help mentor my team and my staff. So all of us could be the best with better job. My weekly hours. Well, it's been interesting since we've been in co vid because I think everything is kind of blended together. But typically, you know, it's a regular type of work week, except for what we do. We do. We offer a lot of different events, so it's not your typical 9 to 5 job. Sometimes we're host events in the evening. Sometimes it's on Saturdays or Sundays, so it just varies, especially during the time of the year.
lately. So major challenges in pain points. Wow, I think especially right now it's just been tremendously difficult because we haven't been able to go and visit students in high school because so many of them are doing classes virtually, um and so a lot of the traditional methods that we've used to do to recruit students. We've had to rethink and pivot and try something else. So there's a lot of lots of virtual events, a lot of opportunities to get in front of students. Um, but it's a challenge because everyone is doing things virtually. And I think a lot of people are tired of sitting in front of a computer screen. Eso you know, it's it Z really taken a lot of creativity to think of new ways Thio recruit students on in today's market. But I think what we've learned, I think over the past several months is we've become creative and so we've always had virtual tours and we've done a whole variety, different things. We re invented them. We did driving towards those and still wanted to come and you notice that we click a QR code and kind of follow a driving tour We've completely done our virtual tours, and we've done things where we could do 3 60 videos and the residents halls so people could expect, you know, that the experience of what it might feel like if they were actually there in person. So all I think all of those things where they've been challenges have also provided an opportunity for us to try something different.
