Wow. I mean, that's a big question. Eso ah, lot of things really got me to where I am today. Um, you know, I have been very fortunate and I was working in a family business for many, many years. That family business was sold, Um, and then I had to reinvent myself and I had to go out and I had to go get a job based on what I had learned and the skills that I had on by successfully did that. But the first job wasn't so good. It didn't work out so well. So from there it was a stepping stone that led me to other opportunities. Um, on dya know, everything kind of took its path and course on bond. I had ah riel break at one point in time when I was hired to really build from inception the international guest jewelry business. Um, and that was something that I really, um, did quite well and built a very large business. And that really became a base of my accomplishments, which allowed me to really progress within my career on dso. After that, I I received other rules and positions and then well, Cirovski which is using me. And I've been here seven years, and after seven years, I'm now responsible for the entire business in North America. So, um, you know, not an easy not an easy role to be in. Not an easy job to have it actually secured. But it was through all that hard work that really got me here.
is really the entire North American business. So it's it's all of the people. It's all of the profit and loss responsibility. It's all of the, um, corporate responsibility. It's all encompassing. Um, S O that that was the first part. I think of your question. Um, the next part was, uh, might the top three priorities. So, in terms of priorities, you know, obviously, um, the financials are really what drive the business so completely focused on both our top line and bottom line performance? Um, that, of course, is number one. Number two are are the people making sure that we have all the right people in the right roles and that our people are well taken care of. And then number three would really be the fiduciary responsibilities to the corporation, making sure that we're following all the laws that were compliant and that we're doing everything as we are supposed to be doing things, Um, and then weekly work hours, you know, a lot of hours, right? So I start pretty early in the morning. I finished late in the evening on Do you know there are things that happened on the weekends, So it's a pretty heavy work week
is and pain points. Um, you know, the challenges really are always about How do we How do we really achieve the goals and how do we really please our our customers? Um and you know, achieving goals sounds quite straightforward, but there's never a straight line to get there, so that's always something that you have to be very clever about. How do you How do you go about that? And most importantly, you need an amazing team to do that. And I have an amazing team on dure. No teams air, really what makes businesses thrive and succeed? Um, and you know, that's that's really part of the secret to the success on DSO. You know how How do I approach that? You know, that's really sure there's a tremendous amount of communication. Everybody knows where we're going, what we're looking to achieve, um, and that we're all basically rowing in the same direction. You know, there's not really a one size fits all. You have to be very adoptable to whatever situations are put in front of you at any particular time. Um and you know, if I had to think of an example of that, it would be what's going on right now with coronavirus. Nobody could have ever predicted this whole coronavirus pandemic. There was never a playbook in places, too. Hey, if you face a pandemic, here's what you dio we have, uh we have, you know, 275 of our own stores in North America, and we had to shut down every single store which impacted thousands of people. So it was quite an undertaking on Ben. You know, we had to be very mindful of people's lives and their livelihoods. And, you know, we as a company, we supported them for a period of time and then continued to support them with health care until we were able to bring everybody back toe work, which was a very magnanimous gesture, I think, from from the corporation's point of view. And I think, you know, we have, ah, team that really appreciates that today on. Do you know, Here we are. Now, all of our stores are open. Um, fortunately, and hopefully they will remain open. But you know that that was ah, very unforeseen circumstance.
