I’m originally from Dallas, Texas. I’ve lived in Austin, Miami, France, Fontainebleau, and Waco and now I live in Fort Worth. I like sports and working out. I am very active in golf and tennis, and I run and swim. I love working out. I also play piano several times a week here at home, in front of the kids.
I haven’t taught the undergrad since about 2008, I used to but I haven’t since a really long time, so I probably won’t answer that question. I also used to teach the masters program, and I taught in that till 2008 too. Since then I’ve only been teaching the PhD program. So that’s probably not a good question for me to answer.
I have always looked, in general, at information and finding new ways of providing information to people, in new forms, and how this affects individuals and organisations and decision-making, and how it affects groups. My studies are looking at information systems, and real time information, and how it influences decision making, mostly how small they were, how centralised it was, how much quicker they’re able to make strategic decisions. The next big class of systems I looked at was management systems, and I was interested in how organisations manage knowledge as a resource, and how systems contribute to that. For both of those independent topics, I also looked at how culture, both national and organisational, influences the way systems are implemented in youth. Then I’ve had another major stream in virtual teams, and in that my projects have looked at trust, some looked at communications and some at leaderships, and some looked at how conflicts are resolved in a virtual environment. More recently, I have ongoing projects on ethical consumption and ways to use systems and apps to encourage ethical consumption, or environmentally sustainable consumption. I have a lot of other projects in between those, but I’d say those are some of the bigger ones. And one other stream that lasted about five years was looking at organisational social media, and how implementing social media inside organisations can have various implications, from poly-socialisation to knowledge exchange and team coordination.
