is any of my **** I am a first year graduate student at the university of Utah getting my media masters in education in education leadership and policy I enjoy a lot of things in my free time which I don't have a ton of right now I love reading I don't like hiking and I don't really like sports but I will go and I will join in if need be but I love music I love food I have recently become a city so I like going around and seeing what people have a cut on Instagram I mention I love reading that something that I've kind of gotten into apart from class readings I do my own reading I enjoy movies I really like Netflix although I think I'm washed everything and anything that I I just kind of enjoy everything think of a typical millennial and what they like to DO and that's kind of me I am the stereotypical basic millennial I'm asked for my extra curricular involvement as an undergrad or you know graduate student I am still loves all things that I I was kind of involved as an undergrad when I was a graduate trying to stay away from them arm but I still have a lot of kind of connections and a lot of things that I did I did to study abroad I lived in London for a semester abroad and then I did a short study abroad in Holland a cool I'm I did a couple of trips around the world for research meant that universities implicate me for what else was involved I was a mentor at trio of it East High School that's what I did for about two years I also worked on campus with career services for about two years as well I was involved as deacon scholars with the banyan center my freshman year I've been involved in the different offices just around here and there met for the community I've been volunteering at a local junior high here for the past five years I think it is I'm an absolute love and I still do it but I try to find where I can find here what I can do I'm currently right now I'm trying to set up a volunteer position with the international rescue committee so that's really exciting but yeah but right now I am currently a graduate assistant with the union administration they actually have a big office that runs the entire union on campus so that's kind of what I'm doing right now and that's going to not show but I've done a ton more I'm just really blanking out right now but yeah

so I guess I kind of touch on this in my first question so I did my undergrad at the university of Utah in political science and International Studies before that I was actually in our history major so that's another thing I really like art specifically like paintings and sculptures are his true love that I'm a but that's just over to place I and political science International Studies and I loved it I loved politics I am super into social justice but more of the academic side of it I did try lobbying for a little bit I did an internship in Washington DC where I tested out if I really wanted to do the practical side of like actually getting a job in political science and it was great but it wasn't for me so I switch to the more academic side so becoming a professor in political science however that didn't really feel right at the moment so I I was going to go for my PhD I stopped I didn't do my PhD apply for a master's which is a masters program I mean right now in education leadership policy because I am a little bit more passionate about education and the politics of it specifically so that's what I'm doing right now and hopefully after my two years I'm in my first year after me two years hopefully we can go on to attain a PhD I'm I'm singing right now in political science but we don't really know what we going do yet because I don't know I don't know I a lot of people ask me what I'm gonna do and I I have no idea itself for grabs I still think I have a lot to explore and there's so much you can do with my field and kind of my background so I'm very excited to see where that goes

my passions lie and a range of things first and foremost academia's academics education learning being taught things in just a growing and expanding my knowledge at something that I'm very passionate about and I absolutely love encourage everyone to go into education not specifically fields of education but just education as a whole going to college learning in any field that you possibly want because I I love that so much that doesn't float your boat you know okay that's fine another passion that really floats my boat is social justice and social justice activism I'm not an activist in the sense that I do protest although I do I don't do them I frequent enough because it's not something that I think I'm good at I'm more good of incorporating social justice in a more academic sense in a more foundational way and that's how I have been able to formulate that passion into something that I feel is monumental and changing something and in some way and all of that is really important to my identity I consider myself a woman of color I'm a first generation that the not I come from a low income backgrounds so all of those combined all of those different types of my identity has brought me to what I am kind of today and the rest of my family from for many things that first to go to college for us to graduate first to go to grad school on and that such a passion of mine to advocate that I was able to do so through the world of academia through the world of education something that I found but there's many different ways that you can find it you just need to find it and be passionate enough about it and that's something that I really love it I really advocate for that's what I really like mentoring students because I really like encouraging I will encourage you to do anything and everything that your heart's desire because who am I to tell you not to do something you know what you want to do and I'm just here is kind of a helpful tool and I know when I had individuals who really helped me out had mentors I'm and that really helped out incredibly had such a monumental impact not something that I would like to do and try and so I mean I guess to sum up because I like to ramble watch my passions are education my passions are social justice how I can tie that and my passion is is information just giving that right there's so much out there that I think people don't know about people are really unsure about how to go about this and I had people tell me they're like do this sign up for this there's this opportunity and that's what I also love doing I love I have a ton of students that I advise and I love sitting with them and just Hey have you heard of this office have you heard of this let's do this not something that I really love
