I'm in charge of my own shop. I have other people who help me and I am in control of what cases we have and what kinds of cases we handle. I wear many, many hats, I am in charge of the client contact management of all the cases, our work product, our quality control, I testify as an expert witness and I'm in charge of making sure that those cases are prepared. My goal is to help the attorney be prepared for the case, and I do a lot of client contact and also review the documentation that we have. I also am in charge of budgets and billing, and making sure that we belong to the organizations I want to belong to. I attend a lot of seminars too, make sure that I am current on the latest developments specifically have an interest in the blockchain technology and how that affects our life and how what the future of that is and how it will impact what would do on a daily basis. I believe it that will become part of our fabric. My working hours, I work a lot of hours. I work very early in the morning. I'm in the office for a lot of hours, and I almost always have work that i take home do some sort of work on the weekends as well.
But I use that to sort data, to organize calculations and be able to compare data from one data set to another. I subscribe to a number of proprietary databases that give me access to information that I have to verify the use for, and I have developed my own set of models where I will input information. Every case is different and so there's an adaptation that happens with all of those.
I absolutely love what I do. I've been at this for about thirty years and the aspects of my job that I truly love, I love being able to take a project, take a case that's in litigation or headed that direction and be able to take this wealth of information and figure out what is the strong point of the argument that my client wants to put forward. And what is not? I am after the truth and I try not to be invested in what that truth is. I think that serves my client and the other parties in the case very well. The things that I love about being able to have that role in the case is I am able to take a large set of data, various kinds of data, sometimes it's in documentation, sometimes it's a specific data set that's digital, and I'm able to allow those points to speak to each other and come together and create a cohesive argument. Pleasant surprises about my job probably it's like every case is different, although I might have a whole set of cases that seem the same at first, as the nuances come out and as the case moves along, there's always a new development and always more to the story.
