um, one I got out of high school. I didn't really have, um, any sort of direction or plan. I didn't know what I wanted to dio, um I did apply to a couple of schools because my friends applied to the same schools on DSO I did. I did end up going to to a school snow college for a little while and and didn't go very well because I wasn't really motivated because I didn't actually have anything that I was trying to attain by going to school. Um and so I ended up. I ended up dropping out. Um, and I moved back home. I had gone to Utah. I was from New York. And so I had moved out to Utah for school, and I decided to go back home and kind of figure out what I wanted to dio. I worked a few different jobs, Um, and just kind of for a few years was not really sure. I worked as a delivery driver, construction worker, health insurance agent. I did for a little while, and it just nothing ever really felt like it was really fulfilling to me are exciting, I guess. And so um, e No, I I searched a lot online. I was looking up, like, what are the best jobs that you can get without a degree? Because I didn't have one. And by this point, I was already married, and we have ah, daughter. And so the investment of money and time and an actual degree program was a little bit too much Thio handle. And I came across, um, you know, programmer or web developer. And I know that I had considered it before. I don't know why it suddenly just, um, made sense to me or connected with me. But, you know, I had I had taken some computer science courses in high school and had never really revisited it. So that was kind of where I decided I wanted Thio move towards, but I didn't really have a lot of groundwork that specifically was pointed towards programming or anything even close to that. Really. Please,
in my current position are stack is, uh is dot net Uh, so we are using a lot of html CSS, um, and javascript, which I was familiar with from, um, kind of personal study. But the new things that I'm having to learn our c sharp for the back end and sequel for our database set up. But it really depends on location. I think in my talking to other developers and with some research, it looks like it really depends on where you are. I mean, if you even go to a different part of the state, they could be using a different stack with more prominently. Um, but here where I am dot net is very popular that
Yeah, in in my company. Um, there aren't a lot of indicators like that. I've worked at some other jobs that did, but not in this field. Um, it's really based on. Are you completing the work in the time that you are requesting or what seems reasonable? Because a lot of this is mawr thought work and problem solving. It's not really a good indicator to say, Oh, he fixed 10 bugs and you only fixed five because they're completely different problems. And so it really just depends on Are you working actively on solving these problems? Are you communicating when you need help, that kind of thing.
