Yeah. So, um good morning. Afternoon, everyone. My name is cool. Okay, I'm in 2018 graduate Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City, where City political economics. Barnard is the Women's College of Columbia University. Um, currently, I live and work in Chicago as missiles. Your client manager at Nielsen, which is a global market research firm. I ended up at Nelson through through Job all which is this organization that fixed, uh, increased university pipeline into corporate America by helping flag applications of diversity applicants. Which is how I found out about this role. Um, in record research, Um, what is your story into this experience? Your career path? Um, I'd say I kind of just fall into this role. I'm currently in the application process to go into grad school to get my MBA, and I'm hoping to pivot into product management, which is really where I wanna be. But I've learned a lot in market research. I think it's zin really helpful to understand the consumer perspective and most of the manufacturer perspective on DSO. Essentially the type of work that I do revolves around using Nielsen's proprietary data. So they have what we know the skin on panel data scan data refers Anything that you get from skinning your item at a grocery store. Um, such as, like macaroni and cheese. Like when you skin that we can. We'll let you know how maney $1000 worth of Mac and Cheese were sold in target this week. We have that kind of data. We also have about 150,000 Panelists who scanned the receipts for us and those individuals help us better understand demographics like Who are the types of people who buy our items, how frequently they buy the items they buy them on sale things like that that gives us better clarity as demographics. So using the two of those were able to answer questions that are kinds may ask us like, Hey, we just released, like, this new product market. How's it doing? Where resource in our volume from which, like regions of the U. S. To be sell best in. Or you could have a cell defense story where a client may be at risk of being shelved at Walmart or something like that. And so then they'll come to us being like, Can you bring US data showcasing that are, um, product is actually truly valuable on Brings in like a lot of volume and things like that. So we answer anniversary of questions for global CPG coming.
eso essentially, I guess I got kind of touched upon it ahead of time. But essentially, the work that I do is working with clients to help them. But I understand how the products are doing in market, Um, using Nielsen's proprietary data, using scan and panel data and answering a plethora of questions from how is their product doing and market. It was just released. Or are items were being at risk of being the shelves or were noticing that drop in sales? Who are the type of people that we're losing as buyers for the type of people that were gaining? Aspires, Um, or we're seeing that a lot of is being shipped to competitive items. Who are those competitors that we're losing volume to? Who are we gaining volume from, um, competition wise. Things like that s Oh, my day to day is essentially working with our client consultants or the Nielsen individuals who sit on site at the client and have these meetings with our with our clients stakeholders on and they come to us, um, submit the request into Salesforce. It comes to me, I pull the data, I make the LCS, and then I showcase it, Thio either the client or send it back to the client consultant, who then sends it to the client.Um, yeah. So top three priorities, um would be delivering, you know, quality decks to our client in a timely manner. Um, being responsible for reporting eso our clients received different types of reports, especially during covert time. Period. We had specific reports that just showcasing, like the ways in which the market was fluctuating because of cove it on DSO. We work with an offshore team that helps pull that data for us and make it into a pretty exile. And we just, you know, qc it, pull some insights and email that over to clients. So that's something else that I am responsible for. And then you have, like, a second hats, I guess would be your third responsibility. Which could be, however, else you want to contribute to nails. Announced that the work that you are responsible for eso for me I started the Diversity Inclusion committee on my team. And and yeah, that's a kind of a second half that I do where I'm working. Thio make monthly, uh, dialogues on whether it be working in a multi generational team or confronting bias in the workforce, or we did a series on the whole black lives matter, movement and what? That's what's going on with fat in the United States. So, yeah, I would say those will be like your three responsibilities in terms of what weekly hours, I'd say it's like a standard 40 hour a week situation. Some weeks, maybe you're working a bit longer because you have quicker turnaround. So sometimes I might work longer. Maybe I'm under your Tuesday because I have something to you on Wednesday. But maybe I might end a bit early on Friday. So it's really flexible. Um, they some your needs and how your schedule is like.
Yeah. So Nelson has, um, their own proprietary data scan data and panel data, which you can't really learn how to use Unless you're Nelson employee. I don't think they really leased out that, um technology eso That was the steep learning curve in itself. We went through lots of, like, trainings and modules to kind of learn how toe whole data using those, uh, those technologies eso that. That's what I'd say. Also having knowledge of excels. Also helpful. Used to pulling data on making a pivot table and extracting insights and there. But yeah, I would say the things that we really use are the Nielsen Tools and Excel. We don't have to know how to use, like, sequel or job or any other kind of coding languages because the proprietary data, the proprietary technology does that for us does the back end of that so that it just shoots out the data and I don't have to actually like, query it or search it up or something like that
