Create and oversee the implementation of a strategic communication vision and direct theplan for multiple areas with the Office of the Vice President for Research and EconomicDevelopment (OVPRED) organization.Provide input and partner with institutional strategic communication officers.Determine and develop OVPRED brand and brand strategy and implementation plan.Oversee, manage, and evaluate creation, production and distribution of promotional materials,publications and image through a multimedia approach and strategy (radio, television, print,web, social media, etc.).Work with faculty, staff, students and research units to capture and communicate researchdiscoveries and innovations.Build a network of information sources and educate individuals on story packaging.Work in collaboration with the Office of Strategic Communications (OSC) to ensure a unifiedcampus message.Working in concert with the OSC, coordinate multiple releases and output to maximizepositive coverage, disseminate high impact messages to target audiences and ensureconsistent messaging.Coordinate opportunities to connect to high profile events, service clubs and state/nationalmedia.Lead the OVPRED’s external publications and multimedia presentations covering research,corporate and industry partnerships, and community and state leaders.Oversee communications staff.

  University of Iowa Pharmaceuticals (UIP) is the largest and most experienced university-affiliated FDA-registered pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the United States. UIP has been developing formulations, manufacturing products, and conducting analytical testing in compliance with cGMPs for almost 40 years. During the past 5 years UIP has manufactured over 1100 batches of product for over 100 different sponsors. UIP serves a broad spectrum of clients of all sizes in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and has performed work for pharmaceutical companies throughout the United States and the world. Additionally, UIP has performed work for numerous government agencies, including the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control, and the National Institutes of Health. UIP is capable of producing most types of pharmaceutical dosage forms. These dosage forms include sterile injectable solutions; sterile lyophilized (freeze-dried) powders; topical and oral solutions, emulsions, and suspensions; tablets (uncoated and film or functional coated); and hard gelatin capsules (powder or hot melt filled). UIP is compliant with 21 CFR parts 11, 210, and 211, licensed by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to handle controlled substances (Schedules I - V) and capable of handling potent/cytotoxic materials. UIP has produced numerous products for use in the European Union (EU) and passed numerous Qualified Person (QP) audits.
