I was one of the first 4 hires at this young company. In fact, the company was founded by one of my CMU Entrepreneurship students. We won business plan competitions and raised money together. It was time to let the young entrepreneur spread his wings.

Venture Beginnings was founded as an incubator during the Internet Bubble of 1999 and 2000.  I morphed into GetABBY.


Venture Beginnings

My responsibilities included the Technology (including development), Customer Support and Sales. I oversaw 200+ people, with offices in: Pittsburgh, Stockholm, Sydney and London. LeaseTek (before being sold to IDS) grew to become the largest asset based finance software company in the world.


The PC revolution required a published guide for all of the services and products within that environment. The Microguide was that solution. We eventually sold the magazine to our largest advertiser – IBM – and they eventually morphed it into PC World.


The vision of Pittsburgh Transportation was to provide up-scale, executive transportation – to and from the Pittsburgh International Airport. We transported 1,000 executives per day in Mercedes Benz automobiles – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days per year. We then added taxi cabs, limousines and school bus routes. The company was sold to its employees.
