-Developed and implemented creative outreach and retention methods designed for first-generation, low-income, students of color to seek advising and remain informed -Organized community outreach efforts advising refugee parents and youths regarding financial aid and college access in collaboration with the Bud Bailey Apartments for low-income, chronically homeless, and refugees. -Aided cohort in earning $2 million in scholarship monies. -Served as liaison for the UCAC program between high school counselors, administration, staff and the University of Utah and other college representatives and advisors. -Provided unbiased, best pathways of learning and continued education for students regardless of educational path. -Maintained a cohort of 425 high school seniors who are first-generation, low-income, or students of color at Cottonwood High School. -Advised PASIFIKA, the Pacific Islander student organization, and the Black Student Union, the African and Black student organization simultaneously. -Served as the liaison between all Cottonwood students to institutions of higher education. -Ensured cohort completed milestones of 1) ACT preparation and registration; 2) three college applications; 3) two public scholarships; and 4) submit a FAFSA or submits private scholarships for undocumented students. -Served as the college, scholarship, entrance exam, and financial aid person of contact for Cottonwood&#x2019;s students, faculty, staff, and administration. -Organized and supported district- and school-wide efforts which promote college and career readiness, i.e. College Application Week, Keys to Success, and Decision Day programs.

Forbes magazine’s recent ranking of the “Best States for Business” pointed to “an educated labor force” as a big reason Utah came in at number one. Healthcare
University of Utah Health Care recently ranked first in the nation in a prestigious national study. The University Health System Consortium’s 2010 Quality and Accountability Study compared 98 of the nation’s top academic medical centers and ranked them based on core quality measures, patient safety indicators, mortality rates, re-admission rates, and patient satisfaction scores.
