Responsibilities include strategic leadership, development and implementation of comprehensive communications and marketing plans to support student enrollment and recruiting, working collaboratively with university leadership to ensure consistent and cohesive messaging and brand consistency, and preparation of budget analyses to oversee the use of funds allocated to the University’s communications department. Serve on President’s Executive Team and manage 18 employees; work with various departments and organizations throughout the University; manage relationships with and oversee work of outside marketing and public relations agencies.


Founded in 1881, South Dakota State University is the state's Morrill Act land-grant institution as well as its largest, most comprehensive school of higher education. SDSU confers degrees from eight different colleges representing more than 175 majors, minors and specializations. The institution also offers 29 master's degree programs, 12 Ph.D. and two professional programs.The work of the university is carried out on a residential campus in Brookings, at sites in Sioux Falls, Pierre and Rapid City, and through Extension offices and Agricultural Experiment Station research sites across the state.
