Promoting Access to the Specialized Schools in New York City (PASSNYC) works to improve equity and diversity in NYC's education system.We aim to identify talented underserved students within New York City’s underperforming school districts in order to increase the diversity of students taking the Specialized High School Admissions Test.I am leading a team of researchers and data scientists who aim to democratize and promote access to NYC school data so that our partners can drive value and impact from the numbers.So far we have: + Created the most popular Data Science for Good Challenge with Google: https://www.kaggle.com/passnyc/data-science-for-good/home+ Won BigApps 2017 for our Opportunity Explorer tool for parents+ Helped create the Dept. of Education's $15MM plan to boost the diversity of the Specialized High Schools over the next four years,+ Signed 25 partner organizations, serving as a hub of opportunity in NYC,+ Launched our School Explorer data tool to make info on 1,270 DOE schools more accessible; + Passed 640 unique user registrations on our free online SHSAT prep portal created in partnership       with TestPrepSHSAT.comwww.PASSNYC.org

I was inspired to declare a psych major after seeing a TED talk by Dr. Dan Gilbert. A year later, I tracked Dan down and earned a position in his lab for the summer. I redesigned and innovated the lab's data collection / excel entry methods.
