Build advanced analytical tools to provide insights to business executives utilizing cutting edge mathematical, statistical and machine learning approaches 


I work in the Zvonimir Dogic lab. In this lab we study the self assembly of materials. We use simple biological components in trying to understand self assembly of materials. This study can be used to explain self assembly phenomenon observed in nature such as bird flocking, bacterial swarms, schools of fish to name just a few. Some of the tools used on a daily basis are microscopy, microfluidic devices and microrheology. For data analysis we rely on computation packages such as matlab, mathematica, python, and others. Since part of microscopy imaging is taking a lot of digital images, a considerable amount of time is spent on image processing and image manipulation. Devices used in the lab are designed using CAD programs such Auto-cad and solidworks. Data visualization is done in Matlab and Python and processed further in adobe Photoshop or adobe illustrator to make presentation ready images.The skills acquired in this position are not only useful for analyzing biological systems, but can also be extended to other fields such us robotics, big data processing and data analytics, biochemistry and biophysics, financial modeling, etc.

For most of the experiments, computers are used for data acquisition and data analysis (mostly Ms excel). Worked on a synthetic biological active system built from components of the cytoskeleton and associated motor proteins (Microtubules and kinesins). This model system showcases aspects of active matter systems such emerging structures and collective behavior. When unconfined, this mixture is isotropic and exhibit no net material transport. We confined this mixture in toroidal and disk like geometries and it self-organized into large scale directed flows with speeds of up to 20 microns per sec
